Learning the Russian Language
Russian is spoken by more than 170 million people in Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Eastern Ukraine.
There is little dialectical variation in Russian throughout Russia.
Russian is highly inflected. Words vary their endings, prefixes, and internal structure
to indicate grammatical differences.
It is a slavic language related to Polish, Czech and Ukrainian.
Russian is not a difficult language to learn. The main challenges are the alphabet, the case endings, and the pronunciation.
You absolutely must learn the alphabet first. This will enable you to see, recognize and understand thousands of words on sight.
You can learn the case endings by memorizing short phrases in Russian, which will contain the correct cases.
It will take some time, but by practicing you will be able to handle Russian cases reasonably well.
Speaking Russian without any accent will take some time but you can expect to be understandable in a short time, with a minimum of practice.
